ableton live 9.7.5 not opening mac osx yosemite

So it looks like Live is causing the problem, but I’m unsure as to why. But, once I close Live, everything sounds fine. What’s interesting though, is that this seems to only happen in Live-meaning, once the sounds starts cutting out in Live, all audio that is running through the Scarlett cuts out too-from audio previews in Finder to iTunes and others. The regular Realtek integrated audio seems to work fine.

I have the latest driver for the Scarlett 2i2 installed, and other than Live, audio plugins, Office & Chrome-it’s a bare-bones installation. But, that only lasts another few minutes, after which the audio cuts out again. The only way I can get the audio back is by switching sample rates within Live between the various choices from 44.1kHz to 96.0kHz. I'm trying to run Ableton Live 8.2.1 with a Scarlett 2i2 USB sound interface, and the problem that I'm having is that after several minutes of use in Live, the audio starts to cut out/gets distorted, until it quickly becomes almost inaudible. The system is dual-booted with ML 10.8.5 and Windows 7, with the ML part of the system to be primarily used as a DAW. I recently completed my first Hackinstosh build and I've started running into a problem with the audio that I can't find a solution to.
